Ice on Astotin Lake – plein air

I painted this a few weeks back on a rather cool day with fog that kept obscuring the winter sun. After a couple of minor touch up in studio it feels right…cold, but right. It was cold by the way which added to the sense of urgency in painting. Sometimes that breathes a life into a painting that can escape in the comforts of the studio.
