Many of my paintings have painted edges, so framing is optional. However, there are others that benefit aesthetically when set in a frame. The painting of the ice shelf on the shore of the glacial pond on Mount Edith Cavell is one of them. As an artist, I have no control over the nature and colour of the wall a collector will hang it on. Light tones tend to get lost on a light coloured wall, unless framed, such as the painting in the photo.
