Resting…

Of all the genres I enjoy painting, figure painting is my favorite. Whether a portrait, an “artistically” posed individual, or a narrative scene where one or more people bring life to a landscape, there is something compelling about the human subject. It can be particularly challenging as the viewer will quickly see flaws but the complexity of trees can just as easily foil a so called simple landscape.

Only a few of my figure paintings are on this web site. Some are not worth sharing, others I am entirely pleased with but for personal reasons I have chosen not to share them on this site (I might add that off those, a number have been acquired by collectors). However, if you don’t see what you are looking for here, send me a note.

The cover painting for this post is a recent 14×18 oil on canvas painting, I gave it the rather plain title, “Resting.”
